Like the title says, my cattleya has a strange brown spot on its leaf. Even though it gets lots of light, I don't think it's sunburn. I have two others, and they're doing fine
Aside from other plants you have, not having similar damage; what makes you think this is NOT sunburn? Different species and hybrids all have different needs, and tolerances. If this is a white flowered plant, I’d be surprised if it was not sunburn. The leaf color looks pretty good to me, most growers don’t give enough light; however, you need either more air movement to cool leaves, or less light….at least from what I can see from my spot in internet land.
You're right. I don't know. It was just a guess. That's why I contacted you guys. And since you seem to know more than I do, I will take your information to heart and treat it as such. Thanks for your response. Since I have your attention, should I put some raw aloe on it? We have a lot of aloe plants. They can finally be useful for something other than taking up space.
That looks like sunburn to me. No need to treat - the damage will just dry up. It won't go away, it will be ugly, but won't hurt anything. Eventually (could be several years) the plant will shed that leaf.
That spot just happened to get a blast of light that was too bright. But that's a sign to reduce light a bit for nearby plants... If it's getting sunlight, it could get an intense beam at a certain time of day (only takes a few minutes). Then the sun shifts. So in a few days or weeks could hit a different spot - and zap something else, so take the warning.
