Default Cattleya mossiae tipo

Going to try to breed this one with pollinia that I saved from last summer from a friend's tipo mossiae that flowers a few months later in the season. The one pictured here has better shape, but the pollen parent is more floriferous (it regularly produces four to five flowers per spike, compared to a maximum of three on this one) and lighter in color. Hopefully I'll have something to send to Troy Meyers next year to make the "garden variety" mossiae more available to anyone who might want a flask.

Me too this is gorgeous. Save some pollen for your friend to use this year on his plant, in case the reverse doesn't work. I haven't had luck with Cattleya pollen lasting very long.

Oof this plant is gorgeous indeed. Is it from the same breeding line as 'Willowbrook' or similar? I see some resemblance. Thanks for trying to make regular mossiae available, there's a weird shortage right now!!

Hopefully not, since Willowbrook is a hybrid!

Thank you, everyone, for your comments.

This one is R. E. Patterson X Panther Creek.

Well, shoot, then this might be a hybrid? Well, that's not the greatest news to start the day with. But I do appreciate the link to that discussion, which is pretty interesting.

Ah, yes, Panther Creek is probably a hybrid too.

Still a beautiful flower though!
