cattleya amethystoglossa first bloom seedling
finally got this seedling to bloom after 3+ plus years of growing. from orchid Eros in Hawaii, the cross from his (Bright spot x Dark spot )parents
. I think it has good shape and very intense coloration and spotting... will keep it.

thank you all,
Stephen... I just checked for fragrance and I could not detect any but I am a bit congested with seasonal allergies, will check again later today.
BTW, there is a previous sheath on this plant that is dry and it bore nil, have you had any buds come out on dry sheaths on your amethystoglossas?
I have a different amethystoglossa in bud that I will check for fragrance and compare when it blooms out.
I had a few amethystoglossa from when H&R (all gone) was selling some crosses and cannot remember if any fragrance on those.

You plants can throw blind sheaths, so if it doesn’t bloom this year it probably never will.

Heard back from breeder/grower/seller and He confirmed this plant's lineage is from H&R 4N plants.
the two plants crossed to make this batch were from both 4N parents. Out of this seedling's group he kept 6 that He thought were award level. Grower is an AOS judge.
here is a comparison of the 4N flower vs the standard amethystoglossa from Ecuagenera that just opened a few days ago. flower on left is the 4N, the right side is a 2N
