Yeah, I wanted a tipo L. purpurata. I got one (I think from a society auction, but was donated by SVO) labeled L. purpurata 'Tipo' x self. Turns out 'Tipo' was the cultivar name of an awarded plant. And it turned out to be a lovely alba. I asked Fred Clarke about that and he said that about 1/4 of them from the selfing came out alba... clearly line bred, with an alba in there somewhere, and statistically some of them were. Maybe 'Tipo' x self but not "tipo".
