Default Sophronitis coccinea - Is it a bloom comming?

This is my first and only (so far) Sophronitis.

I noticed that the structure is different from the previous leaves that grew already under my care.
So, what do you think?

Another question is related with the moss growing in the medium (it is potted). I'm somewhat concrend that this might lead to some kind of rot.
Should I trim it (it's firmly attached to the medium, it I try to pull it out I might damage something)?
