Cattleya trianae var. semi-alba
Blooming out now this perfumed variety. Among so many favorites, Cattleya trianae is a favorite! I particularly like this semi-alba because of the pure white!

I don't see any staking. I don't understand how so many of your cats stand so straight w/o staking. I've devised mine own method of staking using fence wire, bent in a circle at the bottom, set in the middle of the pseudobulbs, then tie each pseudobulb to the stake. I don't like when the flop or hang over the edge of the pot.

Don, I stake my 'rebels' just when the new pseudo bulb is almost mature. I put the stake in place, attach a piece of thin soft wire to it (those used for telephony work good) and then make a loop around the bulb I want to position keeping it where I want. I don't tie the bulb because I need to guarantee space for it to complete its development. By doing this, after a while you can get the stake off and the pseudo bulb will stand in place. That's why you don't see any stakes holding most of my plants, except for the one I use to hold the flowers (you can take a look at the process I use for flowers following this link AOS Message Board)

I actually don't know the exact number, Neverend (never counted them!). But I can say I grow something around 30 plants of this species. |
