I love when Laelia crispa blooms with its vibrant lip and ruffled blooms. The fragrance is strong, rosy, and sweet. It typically spikes all at once, but this year it's spiking one after another.

Here's the first spike in bloom!

Spike #2 coming up...

I've started to collect different varieties of L. crispa. They're all still small... but I can't wait to see all of them bloom.

Wow! They are incredible flowers but I have to say I'm most impressed by that amazing spike and the huge sheaths!

It's the lip that is so spectacular, especially the veining. Nice collection of color forms, looking forward to seeing your new babies!

The sheaths are much thicker and larger than anything else I've grown. I'm amazed that the buds can poke out without being damaged. They're paddle like.

I think I read that L. cripsa can have over 10 buds on a spike. I've had up to 9 on this one... but it's been sulking ever since I repotted it 2 years ago. I think it's starting to pick up again.
