Beauty! I don’t think you’re in the right spot…that looks like the area under the anther cap. The stigmatic surface is going to be underneath that area and slightly back. It will be sticky.

Edit - just looked at it again in better light and looks good! The area should star swelling and close up around the pollinia in the next few days or so.

Thanks, the place I placed the pollinia was pretty sticky. We'll see!

Gah this is amazing. I almost picked up a rosea seedling at the Denver fall orchid show, it looked a little suspect so I didn't end up getting it. What an incredible species when it gets going. It also looks bulletproof and that's always nice!

It's a pretty tough plant. I just leave it outdoors and in full sun here. It takes temps from the upper 30s to 100 oF. Although the new growths in winter do badly when wet (which is our rainy season in So Cal). I'd bring it inside but it's too darn big.



Maybe it did take? The ones I pollinated are slightly swollen and not turning yellow...
