Cattleya warscewiczii
Well, I think I finally nailed the culture on this one. Turns out it like a crazy hard (dry) winter rest and prefers quite a bit more shade the literature would have you believe, at least here in Central/South Texas. This is the best blooming I've had yet for this plant. I originally got it from SVO and its 'SVO' x 'Bedford.'

I’ve had this one for years but it never looked so good! I finally gave it a brutally hard, dry winter rest and it seems to love it, just like Chadwick says!

Is the term "pincelada" used for these with a tiny flare on the petals?

Absolutely gorgeous! That lip is fantastic, you can definitely see the 'Bedford' influence.
Keep me in mind if you ever have a division you'd be willing to part with

I've never heard or seen where that term was used seca.
I've always heard "flamea" used for flowers like that but pincelada would certainly be appropriate.

I know that it's used for other species! I'm not super familiar with the term for warscewiczii, but it would certainly be appropriate though! I bet some of our South American members would be able to chime in with the answer to this question! I wish Mauro still posted here.

love the saturated color and wonderful wide petals. I know Steven Christoffersen has a line of "pincelada" mossiae with the tiny flares. I think flamea is the informal term for much more significant petal flaring. (I remember reading about how flamea differs from striata and others in purpurata although the details elude me).

Truly stunning, Stephen. I have a s/a 'SVO' x 'Kathleen' seedling from last year's list that I hope will look something like this! It's a huge plant already. I'm going to keep your culture notes in mind as my warscewiczii are approaching flower size.
