Cattleya warscewiczii semi-alba

Here's warscewiczii semi alba just opening up. This one is much more 'typical' of wild type warscewiczii in terms of size and shape, about 6.5" across with petals that fold forward, though they do flatten out as the flower fully opens. I absolutely love the color of the lip, the rich magenta really pops against the white petals and the pink flares on the petals are a nice touch as well.

And just for a fun, a size comparison between the lip I removed from my other warscewiczii while pollinating and this semi alba

Right?! I knew the other one was big, but seeing it next to a more 'average' size warscewiczii is crazy! Here's another side by side.

That tipo is a monster!

I have a semi alba seedling from SVO's release last year, and I picked up a few from Ben Oliveros' current list. They're small but growing well. Hopefully I'll be somewhat overrun with s/a warscewiczii in a few years.

I went and made a similar photo with two Cattleya tigrina I have! Similar impact!?
