Thumbs up Chysis aurea var. limminghei

I bought one of these last year from Odoms. They have some very unique one of a kind plants you dont find often.

Chysis aurea var. limminghei. It got cold and the wonderful florida grown foliage fell off. It sat inside all winter with the catasetums wintered the same way. If these dont get cold the leaves will stay and just grow. They get cold they fall off.

Right now in large bark and a basket. Under 70% shade cloth but I am reading it can take more light. The leaves are like fine lettuce. Dont want to burn them. Got ranch dressing these might be tasty.

3 new bulbs growing. I might move it over into the catestums den see how it does. But these seem to be easy plants to grow. We see how easy it is to bloom it out. Have you had any experience with these or have one to show me?..

I bring you flowers next time instead of just candy

Mine was easy to grow. It used a lot of water. It didn't drop leaves in winter because my space isn't too cold. Rats ate it.

I picked one up from Ecuagenera at our show in March.
I ended up putting it in a hanging basket just like yours and hung it in the misters for the summer. I'm hoping that's not too much water but we'll see what happens. It has really good drainage so I'll let you know in October if I was a genius or a dunce.

BTW- it's under 60% shade but it's down low in the back row so I'd estimate it's probably more like 80% equivalent.

Talking

Aren't these great! My bractescens bloomed last month and aurea limm. has pushed out 2 blooming spikes. Fragrant and semi-deciduous. Would like to eventually do the basket thing also.

Would gladly post if I knew how. Not a techy wiz at all. Rats...a significant problem that I've done without.
