Beautiful flowers! Thats interesting that the buds open the way they do! Which parent does that come from? Pumila?
I was suprised not to see purpurata in the lineage, that 'striata' look is uncanny!

Good question, I don't know. Walkeriana, labiata, warneri, don't bloom sequentially? Maybe amethystoglossa?
I get that striata look on alot of my bifoliates. Pretty sure its coming from C. amethystoglossa.

That's really nice! Do you like the scent of pure amethystoglossa?

I've never had the chance to see or smell a pure amethystoglossa.

Oh! It's a very distinct, musky smell. I love it but I can certainly understand why some folks might not like it. I bet that's the scent that isn't pleasant to you!

I love the striation as well. Too bad the fragrance isn't your favorite - I recently bloomed an Encyclia alata and was thrilled until I smelled, to me, sweet cilantro with a background of mildewy dish sponge! Yuck!
