In the same spirit as my post about Mareeba Tiger, im posting my three Cattleya tigrina before they bloom so we can watch the bud development. One is a tried and true FCC and the others are SVOs latest polyploid tigrina crosses. This is probably my favorite species of orchid (perhaps until the amethystoglossas get big.)
First the one that we know and love:
Cattleya tigrina 'San Bar Giant' FCC
The SanBar has twenty on one and ten flowers on the other! Its awesome because last year it had 3 and 5 flowers on the two leads. I got this plant blooming size from KrullSmith two years ago and I still consider it about half of its ultimate size
The next two are first bloom, probably 3n seedlings. I got them perhaps 3 years ago and they have sheaths now but havent started showing a spike yet
'SVO Prince' 4n X 'Bill's Favorite Ladies'
This one came out wonky but i think it may be a stunner in the future. Its big with a super wide lip (almost a full cm wider than any FCC I could find) 'Paul' AM/AOS. X 'SVO Dark Wonder' 4n
This one is quite nice as well, narrow lip but large and dark
I juat added an updated photo of the San Bar. I cant get it though my thick skull how to do photos though. Can someone link me to something to explain how to flip them?
You have excellent taste in cattleya sir (I have all these as well, from the same sources, just like the mareeba tigers haha). Thanks for the previews! Looks like yours are a few weeks ahead of mine.

Thank you Claw, you as well! Do you have any other favorite bifoliates?
One other interesting one that may be old enough to spike is a C. elongata. That one was hard to find and not cheap, but im fascinated to see it.

My favorite that I have bloomed is my schofieldiana. Huge flower and quite a nice fragrance. I love all schilleriana. My c Memoria Federico Ferro is a beast. I have a velutina and porphyroglossa that look like they will bloom for the first time this year
My elongata is super healthy but not sure how mature it is... Any idea how tall it needs to be before blooming?
Make sure you share pics of that elongata if it blooms!

Im not sure if it will bloom but i have a 5" growth with a sheath. Think the growths end up being about 12-14" tall so im sure mine is a little premature. id love to trade divisions down the road. Where did you get yours?
