conclusion;
analysis revealed smaller genetic distances between the “Orchidglade”, “Equilab”, “Kenny” and “Pedentive” clones and the species C. loddigesii and C. nobilior. Our results also showed that native plants of C. walkeriana are genetically more distant from C. loddigesii and C. nobilior. We still cannot verify that the clone “Orchidglade” underwent hybridization. However, new microsatellite markers and DNA barcodes are being developed to continue these studies. paper 3 on the way :) yes, it's fascinating indeed that orchids can create so much conversation and confusion. I think that's another reason we love them so much is the controversy. It does shows we care. |
