Default C. maxima

Some nice colours that opened yesterday without me knowing. But took some pics today to share. These are phone-pics.

I took some with the bigger camera. Will upload more pics soon.

An insect or something even pollinated the maxima ------ with a seedpod that had been there for quite a while now.

Love the diamond-dust texture you captured - thanks for sharing. Will you send the seeds off to be flasked?

Those are excellent colors. This is one of those cattleya species that I'm sort of ambivalent about. I really like the colors of almost everyone that I've seen. But the flower shape (not yours, but the species in general) just leaves me kind of blah (lousy non-word to use, I know!). I look forward to seeing some additional photos once the flowers have fully opened.

Hi David! Thanks for joining us to see the pics of these flowers here, and for the very nice comments, along with the very nice comments from everyone here as well!

These seeds won't be flasked for this one. But I think in the future, I will try my hand at flasking - as I had never done that before, but have (in the past - over the many years) done lots of reading on procedures and equipment. It is definitely one of the other enjoyable activities - to grow orchids from the seeds.

I know what you mean SM! Thanks so much for posting - and the nice comments - and those other nice comments from everyone.

Good observation SM! This particular maxima consistently has a droopy/weeping-willow look. I don't know if it is an environmental condition, or its own behaviour. I will upload some more pics below! There is still one more sheath that can't be seen in the pics - and hopefully that will get some flower buds from that one. Thanks again for your message SM!

The first one of this batch below was taken on 16-Nov, and the rest were captured yesterday morning (25-Nov).
