Cattleya walkeriana time for a repot

I've been putting this off for a number of years, but it's probably time for a repot of the overgrown weed--pardon me, I mean Cattleya walkeriana. It's got six active leads with buds, but after this year's flowering season has ended, I will need to come up with a plan. Any suggestions?

Break the pot and butcher as desired, or drop into a larger basket etc.

I would just drop into a larger pot.

Unless you don't have the room for it, I'd put a good sturdy hanger on that pot and leave it alone to do its thing.

I'll also add my two cents to throw it in a larger pot. If you break it up, I'd wait until new roots start on the spring growths.

Beautiful, She looks like where you have her growing is where she is happy, i would break the pot and put her in a bigger pot, right where she was. thank you

I don't know if this is "normal" wallkeriana behavior, but this plant is a robust grower and initiates new roots on a fairly regularly basis throughout the year, including during the dormant season, and not always only from the newest growths. I just took these this morning, and many of the older (non-flowering) pseudobulbs are forming "side roots" (not sure what the correct term is, but they're the roots that branch out from the main ones) at this time. Maybe I would be safe to slip the pot into something a little large now instead of waiting for the spring?

You can slip this into a larger at any time since you won't be traumatizing the plant at all! I'd only wait until new roots on the new growths if you start slicing and dicing.

just keep growing it out until you can hand it down as an heirloom plant for future orchid minded collectors.
