Wow, Thanks Ramon and Dorthy. I think you ID it. I really did not have much hope of getting a name for it. But after viewing pics of mossiae var. alba I really thing that is it.
Here is a link to a pic of mossiae var. alba. I can't tell any difference.
if you follow the crosses to get Cattleya Carl Hausermann (C. Bob Betts x C. Diane Sato) , you can calculate that it is 3/4 Cattleya mossiae in it.
the parentage includes:
C. Suzanne Hye (C. gaskelliana x C. mossiae)
C. trianae
C. Edithiae (C. Suzanne Hye x trianae)
C. Bow bells (C. Edithiae x C. Suzanne Hye) C. mossiae
C. Bob Betts (C. Bow Bells x C. mossiae)
C. Intertexta (C. mossiae x C. warneri)
C. Cowaniae (C. mossiae x C. Intertexta)
C. Eucharis (C. mossiae x C. Cowaniae)
C. Irene (C. mossiae x C. Suzanne Hye)
C. Dorothy Phelps (C. Eucharis x C. Irene)
C. White Empress (C. Irene x C. trianae)
C. White Belle (C. mossiae x C. White Empress)
C. Diane Sato (C. Dorothy Phelps x C. White Belle)
The way I wrote out the chart, I noted the generations at the top so you can see C. mossiae's influence as far back as the 1st and very dominant in the 2nd generation ...
I am not sure if the way I set the generations is 'official' but it gives you a idea of how much this species is involved in the lineage of this hybrid)
(Ramon - I had posted the entry but might have still been cleaning it up when you read the thread)
