Default Bud development, no sheath

Are there any Catt. speciallists that can tell me if there are any Catt. magenta/lavender species that bloom with no sheath? This untagged plant was given to me by a friend. As such it's just a NOID in my collection but I thought that if any of the Catt. species do this it might give me an idea of what species might be in its background. Flower photo from a previous bloom.

I think it's not unusual in Cattleya's world blooms without sheaths.

I have a Cattleya Dormaniana x Tigrina hybrid that is spiking from a dry sheath on two growths and from no sheath on a third growth.

I've found that it's not that uncommon either.
