I've used tap water at times too, even without dechlorinating it and my orchids did do really well. It would be far easier using tap water and I might try to compare tap vs rain water in future. But I would be really grateful if you could confirm that you do indeed use tap water. Living in an apartment I would guess collecting rain water is not that easy either right?

Unless you live in a region with terrible tapwater (high TDS) or have a large collection of salt sensitive orchids, like Masdies, it is usually perfectly fine for orchids and many people use it, even directly from the tap. If chlorine is an issue drawing water the day before intended use is a solution. I usually do that in the winter so that I don't give the plants ice cold water.
I would not be concerned about low levels of pollutants in rain water, rain collects far more junk running across a roof on the way to the water collector than what it naturally has when falling out of the sky...
