Rlc. Maui Dots Male
Default Rlc. Maui Dots

This plant bloomed first time two years ago as a large seedling. It skipped 2021, so it is now blooming as a mature plant for the first time. The parentage is (Rlc. Sun Spots x C. Penny Kuroda [Caudebec group]), bred by Exotic Orchids of Maui.

I liked it when it bloomed the first time, so I used pollen to breed with my best Spots Incognito. Should be getting seedlings back from the lab in the next few weeks.

And, just to spite me, the local judging is today, but the flowers are not quite fully open yet.

It's a great-looking spike of blooms, Kim. I like spotted bifoliate cattleya hybrids. Even though these aren't quite fully mature, can you detect any fragrance?

That's beautiful!! I really love these big spotted Catts, but I know that I don't have space for them. What a shame otherwise I'd have several.
