Haha 😂 yes, it was bananas, but the orchids were there only for a moment, to take a picture. But I never heard the ripped fruit conjure to orchids, now I'm wondering what the logic of that is.

I thought it was because ripening bananas produce
large amounts of ethylene. Ethylene is used as a way of force ripening fruit and flowers. Orchid flowers exposed to ethylene will ripen and die prematurely. Note it is the flower affected, not the plant.

Two years is a long time for the orchid not to try to do anything. It has missed at least one growing cycle. The possibilities:
It may not have enough energy stored in the pseudobulbs to grow.
It might have a virus that has weakened it too much that it cannot grow.
The conditions that this particular Cattleya needs are not being met.

I would toss this one.
