What's your favorite nodosa hybrid?

I got Procatavola Key Lime Stars ( Cattleychea Lime Sherbet × Brassavola nodosa ) on a whim, but it's suddenly grown into one of my favorites. It's small plant with 4.5 inch blooms that are intensely fragrant with the sweet nodosa fragrance ...during the day! It's been blooming non stop for a few months now.

My other hybrids with nodosa in its background- Blc. Yellow Bird and Pcv. Golden Peacock are both free-flowering and easy to grow too. Do you have a favorite nodosa hybrid?

oooh, this is a great thread- i am going to ruminate on it and come back later- key lime stars and little stars are my first thoughts but i have some really weird ones too.


are we just doing primary hybrids?

Since my favorite species catt is dowiana, I am going with Bc Saint Andre.

I've got a Cattleychea Lime Sherbet × Brassavola Nodosa as a tiny free gift seedling a few years ago and it is about to bloom for the first time. Hoping for the day time nodosa fragrance

All are welcome but maybe more focused on those with nodosa as a parent or grandparent. If there are interesting characteristics that nodosa imparts on its progeny, generations down, that would be very cool too!

The lip is very nice on Bc Saint Andre - i wonder which fragrance wins. It be interesting if it emitted difference smell during the day and the evening.

I love Richard Mueller hybrids like a bunch of us, but I actually love Richard Mueller itself perhaps the most! I just got a RM seedling from Orchid Eros a few months ago - they seem to be hard to come by right now.

That Key Lime Stars is gorgeous - I might need to get one. I've also got small seedlings of Golden Peacock and Copper Queen that I will look forward to blooming in the next few years. And, Saint Andre is the latest primary hybrid that I didn't know I needed!!

Now I regret not getting one from Ben! I got my Key Lime Stars from Marble Branch Farms over in SC. Speaking of Richard Mueller hybrids... Here is Rhynchobrassoleya Golden Tang from Marble Branch Farms. This one is also one of my favorites. It's vigorous, it flowers multiple times a year, it's fragrant, and changes color over a few days.

The lime and yellow colours are so nice. So is the pinky green-yellow one.

Beautiful pictures, Jeff! I love the sunset colors and spots of so many of these. I'll keep you in mind for a division once my seedling grows up! It's growing very vigorously as one might expect of a nodosa primary.
