Leptotes pohlitinocoi
Just picked this species up at the Calcasieu Orchid Society show today. There were beautiful displays, and I wanted to take many home, but settled on this little guy with new roots and a possible bloom coming.

Great choice. Easy to grow (same conditions as Leptotes bicolor). Needs to dry out between waterings, fairly high light. Cold-tolerant (if acclimated) - I grow it outside along with Leptotes bicolor, it handles whatever Mother Nature throws at it just like its "cousin". Bloom time is indeed approaching... mine has buds, you have a good chance at a flower = and lots more as it gets bigger.

Thanks Roberta. It was between this and a Dendrobium jenkensii. I've been wanting a small species of some sort and the Leptotes has been on my list for awhile now. When I saw the new root tips growing on this one, I jumped on it. I thought the $20 price was fair. |

For me, Leptotes are a lot easier to bloom than Den jenkinsii . Den jenkinsii blooms for me now ant then, but it is only slightly less picky than Den lindleyi (aggregatem - aggrevatum). My Leptotes bloom reliably every year, and just keep getting better as they get bigger. and I don't do anything special other than water and the occasional fertilizer.

Nice find! I got one a couple years ago and it was supposed to be a mature blooming sized plant. Instead I got a tiny rootless seedling. After much babying it recovered and produced its first bloom this year. A shame I didn't think to take a photo of it.
Like Roberta, my experience with Leptotes is that they are forgiving and just take care of themselves. Some water and occasional food, and the plants are happy!
