Default Rhyncholaeliocattleya Thelma Ayako Tsukamoto 'Volcano Queen'

Here is a bag baby I got maybe 4 years ago in GA. It finally bloomed!

It initially had these yellow veining but faded as it opened up. It's a shame, because it leaves this weird muddled orange fringe on the petals. It does, however, have the C. dowiana fragrance. It is absolutely wonderful... It's like orange chocolate from a fancy chocolate store... I think I will keep this one for the fragrance.

What is a bag baby? I have seen that term regularily over the years, but have no clue what it is....

An orchid vendor in the US sells small potted plants in plastic mesh bags. I can't recall the name because they don't sell in Arizona.

Sun Bulb Company out of Arcadia FL, sold under the “Better-Gro” trade name. They sell fertilizer and potting mix as well, and landed big contracts with Lowes and Home Depot.

I also bought it and it took three years to bloom, more than other cattleyas of the same origin, although the flowers were very beautiful, mine bloomed in January.

Nice! Mine is very rambly and the new growths seem to dig down into the media. I had issues where the new leads would rot under the bark.

Does yours also have the yellow/orange veining?
