Clawhammer: where are you located in the states? I got two C. violacea from SVO this time, I don’t need to keep two. You can have the other one if you want it. I am in Seattle, not sure what the shipping cost would be to your location. Let me know if you want it and I can send it next weekend.
A heads up though, the violaceas are no bigger than the schilleriana.

To everyone else: On a similar note, anyone in the states want two SVO catts for free (you pay for shipping). Preference goes to the person who can take both off my hands, so I won’t need to mess with an extra shipping box:
8025t Lc. Isfield
7921 L. Pacavia
I got these for “free” as substitutes last week for using my AOS voucher. Trouble is, these are standard size cattleyas — even though they are still small in 3 inch pots now, I don’t have the space to grow them out properly in the coming years.

Cattleya/Laelia violacea is a small plant.
Your freebies are C./L. Pacavia (L. tenebrosa 'Paul' AM/AOS x L. purpurata v. striata 'Claire' AM/AOS), a very impressive hybrid, and C./L. Isfield (C/L. Pacavia 'SVO' x C. warscewiczii f. s/a 'Kathleen'), another very impressive hybrid.

They are indeed impressive hybrids coming from SVO. I don’t have the capacity to keep them long term space wise. Maybe someone from this thread will want and can care for them, and if not I will try and find them a new home here locally.

I was late to the party but mine are on the way Monday for the RJadarium.
I got all mini catts. I love mini red catts. They put in so much work in such a small space.

my mini catts came in today.. they look good and small like I had hoped. All of them have been bloomed. 4 have new growths so I should have some more flowers soon I guess.

I wanted to update the thread with two incredible acts of generosity that resulted from this experience.
First, shout out to uilliu, for making my summer by sending me one of their Cattleya Violacea along with a Cattleya Pacavia. I don't often encounter someone willing to do something so kind for a complete stranger. I have to say, it really meant a lot to me... Not just because of this situation, but because it was a much needed reminder of how good people can be at a time where that seems increasingly rare. I will treasure these two orchids for not just their beauty, but the spirit of generosity that they represent. Thank you uilliu!!
The second act of generosity was from Fred Clarke / Carlos at SVO. I didn't ask for compensation, but Fred asked me to remind him of my experience next time I ordered. I emailed SVO on Sunday letting them know I needed 2 bags of bark, a 3 kg bale of moss, and 3 primary hybrids, and requested a quote. Fred only charged me for the media. I received all 3 plants for free, all in great condition, before the end of the week. On top of that they sent me the 2 biggest c. schilleriana coeruleas from the 2023 release, for a total of 5 free plants. I can confirm the 2023 c schillerianas are strong growers. Thank you SVO!!

Confirming what we already know: SVO is a class act and also one of the best places to find whatever kinds of cattleyas you’re into growing! Happy for you Clawhammer.

Agreed, the first time I met Fred he gave me a Cyc. warscewiczii just because I was the youngest person in attendance. "Grow this," he said.
Also I might add that that's what being understanding and forgiving of errors earns you sometimes, so goodonya Clawhammer.

I also strongly encourage anyone with media needs to check out SVO.
The bark is Orchiata quality at less than a third of the price ($35 for 50 liters vs $90 for 35 liters on Amazon).
The Sphag is Besgrow quality and the cost works out to $.57/liter (MoQ = 3kg), the best price for besgrow sphag on Amazon right now is $2.40/liter
