Dendrobium is another one I'm not too fond of, but I appreciate your encouragement. It isn't easy to see the full range of foliage forms within genera online since most photos focus on the flowers, and many of the images of the plants are drawings or taken from unhelpful angles. Anything with a stick-like or bamboo-like physical appearance (even if there are nice leaves at the top) just doesn't do it for me.
I'm sure there are plants within the catt. den. etc. genera/alliances that would appeal to me, and I plan to go to the SD County society spring show in March. That way, I can see lots of orchids in person, find out what plant forms I'm fond of, and pick out a few new plants in person.
Currently, aside from phals. I've been eyeing some oncidiums (maybe the Twinkle types to start?), but I'm trying (trying!!) to hold off buying anything new until the show.
