I use that wire green plastic coated tie too. Mine are relatively thin ... and comes with the standard and safe clipping utility for cutting off the amount we want.
That sort of gardening wire is quite versatile. I can even use one end to wrap in tight coil fashion around a skewer or stake. And can loop loosely around a bulb or leaf of flower spike. And the other end of the wire can be spiralled around other sections of the plastic coated wire. No tying of knots is needed. Depends on what you need to tie maybe.
