Default what do you use to tie the plant?

This might be a strange question

it bothers me because I got the common green wire from Amazon and it looks terrible on the picture

Any specific recommendations?

I use monofilament fishing line.... I use heavier pound test because the lighter stuff could cut easier. Use knots that don't synch down on the plant tissue.

I just use kitchen twine. Also unsightly, but not as liable to cut into the plant.

The orchid curator at our local botanical garden used thin cut strips of women's panty hose. He also used these strips to tie orchids into their pots if they were wobbly. If done right it’s almost invisible, very strong but won’t cut into the plant!

I use zip ties. Looks terrible, but incredibly effective!

I use that wire green plastic coated tie too. Mine are relatively thin ... and comes with the standard and safe clipping utility for cutting off the amount we want.

That sort of gardening wire is quite versatile. I can even use one end to wrap in tight coil fashion around a skewer or stake. And can loop loosely around a bulb or leaf of flower spike. And the other end of the wire can be spiralled around other sections of the plastic coated wire. No tying of knots is needed. Depends on what you need to tie maybe.

15 to 25 lb monofilament is my go to, since I have plenty laying around. I occasionally use zip ties, but further up the plant to keep bulbs and spikes in place while the roots take time to fasten.
