Here are the first blooms on this Cattleya warneri f. alba 'Claire' AM/AOS x Laelia alaorii 'Snowflakes' from Sunsetvalley Orchids. The psuedobulbs are about 1-1.5 inches tall and the flowers are 4 inches. It's wonderful to see such blooms on a tiny plant!
This cross was intended to produce small white cattleyas but Laelia alaorii 'Snowflakes' isn't a real alba I believe. In any case, the pathway to produce red pigments was clearly restored in this strain. It's sort of a light blush on the rims of the petals but it was difficult to capture with indoor lighting... I tried adjusting the photo to match the "true" colors but it looks oddly saturated now. apologies!
I really like how the blooms appear to be spilling off of the pot!
