Very old hybrid, this was first bred (I think) in the 30's. That was another time, other way to see orchids... This was awarded an FCC... I guess today it would not even be considered to the judging table. The plant is huge, the flowers intermediate in size.

Perhaps size and shape, by today's standards, are not up to snuff, but the purity of color is really remarkable. Mauro, does the lack of a varietal name mean this is the only known clone? That would be unheard of today, I think.

Good question, Kim! I have always known only this clone and always without varietal name. OrchidWiz also has it registered without varietal name, just the grex followed by the FCC award mention. I sincerely am not able to say why it has no varietal name!
