Cockleshell Prosthechea indoor care/watering
I've posted before about my "mystery" Prosthechea, which I bought as a fragrans, but may be mislabeled. According to the AOS page for the genus, the "cockleshell" variety, which mine will fall under regardless of exact species, prefers moist but not soggy media year-round. But, visiting other pages, I've seen conflicting information, ranging from keeping them nearly constantly dry during winter, to frequent watering with rapid drying.
I grow mine indoors, where the humidity is around 35%-50%, near a shaded west window with supplemental lighting. I've been watering every 3-4 days by showering it in my sink and then letting it soak for about 10 minutes.
Is this right for my conditions? Have any of you grown these types with success in similar conditions? I'd appreciate any advice as two of the new little growths on the sides of the largest pbulb have started browning and I'm worried I'm watering wrong. I know I'm probably overreacting as I've hardly had this plant for a month, but if I'm doing anything blatantly wrong I'd rather correct it asap.
Thanks ^_^
