Default Cattleya trianae, fma alba 'Aranka Germanske' FCC/AOS

3 weeks ago I posted C. percivaliana 'Summit' grown from a BB division. Here is another classic acquired from my tenant (again a mother division).

In this case I started with a single pseudobulb with leaf and a few roots, which I potted up about two years ago.

The single PB sprouted two leads, each of which next produced a NBS growth. Both are now large enough to bloom on the following (3rd) pseudobulbs.

The flowers were not quite fully open today, but it is close enough to show the quality of this relatively rare plant. I will try to remember to take another photo, when the second spike opens.

Very nice indeed. The upper sepal should be straight upright in Aranka. Will get there ...
A shame we can't have a smell ... I remember it being strong and 'cattleya-like'.

Fantastic bloom. And it's great that you were able to do so well with something that didn't sound terribly promising from the description of what the plant consisted of when you acquired it. Congratulations.

Mine has two sheaths right now. Did yours bloom from green or brown sheaths?

One lead is blooming from a green sheath, the other from a brown sheath. Here is full plant photo, and close-up of fully open flower.
