Default Cattleya lueddemanniana alba

Here is a C. lueddemanniana alba that I originally got from Gold Country Orchids. Flowers are about 6.5" across, has a pleasant lotion like fragrance.

I grow it under lights all year long. Bark, frequent watering. Second flowering this year.

I like lueddemanniana but they are rambly for a cattleya. It's hard to keep it nice and orderly.

That is very nice indeed Jeff. Magnificent. Individuality is very nice! Thanks for uploading. Excellent shots.

Thanks.

This one blooms freely but the other C. lueddemannianas I grow are less cooperative! I wish they'd learn from this one haha.

It does look great. And I had no idea that C. leuddemanniana would bloom at this time of year.

Thanks!

Art Chadwick's Cattleya book mentions that C. lueddemanniana typically makes growths in the spring and in the fall and it can flower in the fall on the second growth. I guess it rests until late winter.

In my case, it flowered in April (spring growth), finished a growth in September (fall growth, no blooms), and it did not rest. It completed another growth in late Nov (winter growth?) and flowered just now.

I grow this one indoors all year long and I do not change the time the grow lights are on. I have a few lueddemannianas and they all seem to do the same thing. I guess it does its own thing without strong environmental cues.
