Two crosses of C. walkeriana Aquinii 'Gloriosa'
Default Two crosses of C. walkeriana Aquinii 'Gloriosa'

The result of two similar crosses. The first flower is C. walkeriana Aquinii 'Gifu', a meristem of Japan Origin (C. w. S.A. 'Taka' x C.w. Aquinii 'Gloriosa'), the second flower is a seedling that I got a few years ago of C. w. S.A. 'Gold Country' x C.w. Aquinii 'Gloriosa' that I named 'Hija de Gloriosa'.

C. w. Aquinii 'Gloriosa' is a famous plant of wild origin discovered in the seventies according to researched information. My quest to know the background of the semi albas 'Taka' and 'Gold Country' continues.

Very nice, both of them!

Good growing too, as you've brought them up from being seedlings.

I suspect you have a large collection of walkerianas? :-)

Thank you!, 'Gifu' was a división but the 'Gold Country' x 'Gloriosa' was grown from a seedling.

I have a few, but not enough walkerianas!

Thank you everyone!. I found a picture of 'Gloriosa' in a 2009 CatWalker post (Harry), so I'm posting it in this thread for comparison. The first picture is Harry's 'Gloriosa' from 2009 and second picture is 'Hija de Gloriosa' ('Gold Country' x 'Gloriosa') as it is blooming right now. They almost look like mirror images. I hope is not a problem that I brought Catwalkers picture in this post for comparison.

Nice! I think Hija de Gloriosa looks better in this comparison!

It has a slightly fuller blooming this year but they are about the same. Hija the Gloriosa's lip probably is rounder and not bend much like the lip of 'Gloriosa' and 'Gifu'. I live in the Caribbean so it probably have more color veining contrast in colder climates very much like 'Tokutsu'. Gifu's markings are quite stable in my climate. I guess it's even more contrasting in colder climates.
