Default C. labiata coerulea spike watch

In the SouthPark spirit of posts , I thought I'd show the bud progress on my Cattleya labiata coerulea. I've had this for two years and it has spiked for the first time. The newest growth was much taller than the last few and I guess it's finally reached maturity. I've never seen a coerulea flower - very excited!

I did read that C. labiata bud development is strongly influenced by shortening of day length. I've been growing this under lights the entire time (without any adjustment on the time that it's on) and it seems to spike immediately after the p-bulbs matured (just like C. gaskelliana).
