Precisely - you
want the roots to be able to transfer water - they move it in the correct direction, into the plant. What you are trying to do is to reduce the amount of water lost from the leaves, allow the roots to catch up. It's the same concept as the "mini greenhouse" of a plastic bag to raise humidity and shift the equilibrium so water stays in the leaves. But the aniti-transpirant permits the plant to stay in an airy, normal environment, just slows down the plant's water loss.
I got the tip from a very experienced grower who also does hybridizing and deflasking. The technique can be helpful when deflasking, to ease the baby plants from a 100% humidity environment to what they encounter in the big wide world.
