Cattleya can grow in S/H very well if your conditions are correct.

I would not move a new purchase to S/H until it is just beginning to form new roots. The new roots should be only a few millimeters long.

If it is not forming new roots it may have a difficult time surviving in the new conditions until it forms new roots. If the new roots are longer than a few millimeters there is a high chance they will be damaged during the repotting.

Thanks ! I reported already so it is a chance she won't survive for that ? It was in horrible conditions in a broken pot an almost drying so I already did it. It's anything I can do to help her survive .

Moving to S/H is not a good way to rescue a sick orchid. Cattleyas are very strong plants that try hard to stay alive. If your growing area is warm and humid it will probably begin growing soon.

Keep the plant very warm and humid. Warmth accelerates metabolism, and humidity slows the water loss from the plant, giving it more time to grow new roots.

Beautiful plant

I have no idea until I grow them and see their habit. I don’t know the lineage and parents and typical behavior across species like some on here do

I just grow them and see how they behave then adjust
