This is a manmade version of the natural hybrid of Laelia purpurata x Cattleya leopoldii. First bloom, quite nice. Due to the purpurata background, this hybrid sometimes has very quilled segments. THe petals are quite flat and the sepals are well-held for the hybrid. THe lip could be better, but this is first bloom... ALso, I tore the lip a little, in the process of taking pics. There is a second spike on the plant, so I will try to get a better shot of a not-torn flower.
The petals have just the barest pink flush along their edges, which may not show up on some monitors. In natural light the entire flower has a milky pink tone.
