Gwen I hope you have a REALLY big spot for this guy. I ended up giving mine to my son last weekend. It was literally bursting out of a 6" pot. I counted 9 new growths on Saturday when I was watering. It gets gigantic, and the spikes are 24" tall minimum! It's beautiful when it blooms but I just didn't have room for it.

Wow it looks so happy and healthy! I have always wanted this one, but read it would get large...not for me at this time. What kind of potting medium are you using?

Somehow, I neglected to read the fine print about it's final growing size. . .I was probably having a bout of orchidfever.
Since, I just transplanted it out of a a tiny 2 inch pot. . .I probably have till next year to worry about moving it to the next new pot.
I've got foam peanuts in the bottom and a "special mix" from Paulino Gardens. The ingredients weren't listed on the bag but I'd guess: large and smaller bark chips, those white pumice looking rocks, charcoal. It's a quite rough mix. I added to it some chopped sphagnum and picked out medium to smaller sized bard chunks. I think I saw some styrafoam in there too.

Check out the size of this specimen plant. I think they grow pretty fast, at least that has been my experience. I got mine in August with the project 4 plant, and I'm looking at double the number of Pbulbs it had when I got it.

Thanks for the heads up! I'll start looking for a larger pot.
