ROBB ----- an absolute pleasure to share the pics with you. The effort and time you had put in to acquire a Nakornchaisri Red is certainly worth it!!
I probably mentioned how I got this one before. It happened when I ordered another cattleya orchid - and this one came as an extra - an unexpected wonderful gesture from the orchid nursery. At first, I didn't know I had acquired this one.
I came home one day and noticed two orchids - separate pots - and wondered what that other orchid was, as I didn't order it. It was full mature size, even with one sheath. And then I read the tag --- and the interesting/foreign name struck me. I assumed it was going to have red flowers though - as part of the name does say 'Red'.
Then I went on maybe 10 days holiday break - with buds inside the unopened sheath. And when I got home from the break - got home at night time ----- the flowers were just starting to open! I didn't even get to see the spike development and the developing buds. Outstanding growth rate - as we do see in a lot of orchids during the spiking and budding stages.
And now it's extra nice to know that you grow Nakornchaisri Red too Robb. I was wondering what Nakornchaisri is. So did some googling - and it looks like it is a district in Thailand.
