What's is these stains ... fungus, too much water ?? - Orchid Board

Hi... I know Cattleyas can produce stain but thease looks suspicious. Anyone could please tell me what could be ??

you are right it does not look good to me. I am not good with names so can't tell you what it is called but it looks like an infection and it looks like it is possibly spreading.
Don't let it travel down the stem, mark it with a pen, if it goes any lower I'd cut off the brown.

Can you show the underside of the other leaves, they don't look quite right either.

So again what it is called I couldn't tell you but I can tell you that weak stressed plants are more likely to get ill than non stressed plants so what has been stressing this plant recently? Cause that is what you need to look at more.

More pics... It like old like black rot, I've never had a sick orchid. I did cut some roots and tide her well because it was too loose in the pot

Did it come with these marks or did it develop recently? That could be lack of water, sunburn, cold damage, spider mite damage, old mealy bug damage or old scale insect damage.

It was beautiful (see picture) ...then lost the flower and then start falling to one side (too heavy for the pot) I wait until see a new root and then repot it... It has lots of damage roots (I didn't cut them all). I just removed the top leyer of bark to check and it is all rotten 🥺.

What's next ???

What are the temperatures day/night in your growing room? Is the sun strong through the window?

You need to go back and remove all the loose mushy roots.
I just had to tonight myself - I had been lazy on the last repot, found some more coco or peat or whatever still stuck in the roots that was causing problems.
Don't be afraid to pull off root sheaths that are loose, they will just start to rot if you leave them. Squeeze every root tip. If it isn't firm it needs to be removed. A live root should feel solid like a carrot but a dead one will be mushy and can be squeezed like a piece of straw. Just throwing that in there in case there is a question on what a live and dead root looks like.

Ummm Yesterday I forget to close se shade and took a good sunbath. Normaly is protected by a sheet cortin.

Thanks 👍 I'll definitely need to clean those rotten roots ... I may as well palace it with out bark I just reed @roberta's comments about Catteleya not wanting to be sink..

If that happened after the sun exposure then it is sunburn.

I recommend people not cut any orchid roots. It is possible to pull the velamen layer off older living roots that are not firm.

In regard to this Catt, I am actually giving up and let her RIP. After all your comments, I also consulted a very good friend of mind, expert orchid gardener (to him I've been able to sent a video) and he told me that he strongly belived that it was a fungus and direct me to this post he recently made about it ( it's in spanish unfortunately), but basically said that if all leaves are infected it's very hard to cure it therefore if the plant is not very valuable for you it is better to eliminate.

The actual bloom of this baby was this beautiful gold flowers.... I learned my lesson, cuts need to be taking care and my mistake I believe was to 1) cut roots more than necessary + 2) cut a flower and let life tissue and not apply anything to prevent infection.
