Before tossing the orchid, why not just isolate it from the other orchids and see what happens? If the markings do not spread, it might just be sun damage.

With Cattleyas, extra Calcium helps prevent fungus issues by strengthening the cell wall as the plant builds cells. When new growth begins and develops, it is essential to make certain that there is a steady supply of Calcium.

Good luck!

Yes thank you. It is apart from the rest, I feel so sorry for it! PLEASE ¿Could you give me an example of how to add extra calcium or a brand product ..? I hear about "Calcio Boro" and found it in Amazon.

Le he puesto FOSETIL (FOSETYL 80 WP PHYTOCARE)...as last call and see if can get better.

BTW, I just find out from benito as well that the calcium that I may be need it I can get it from my own tap water .... what do you think about that too, since we are chatting

Assuming not sunburn ---- maybe to cut down on chances of this dark patch spreading issue is:

1. maintain nice suitable temperatures
2. provide occasional mag-cal
3. provide some gentle air-flow/air-movement in the growing area

I haven't encountered that kind of black patch spread before in my growing area.

At this point - and seeing that the orchid is still alive - providing some mag-cal could be beneficial. Then placing the orchid in a gentle-lighting area (no direct sunlight, and not too dim ------- could bomb the leaves and stem with a systematic treatment like monterey garden phos. Otherwise - copper spray (for plants) onto leaves and stem. Under the leaf and over the leaf too.

I just order a mag_cal supplement. I follow every step, I guess is the part of learning by hard time.
Thank you so much to all.
You all been so helpful. I know you all care for the plants so well, it is very nice to have this forum as backup 💕

Your water service publishes a report on water quality online. Find that. It will show the minerals in your water.

I have a lot of calcium in my water. I mix tap water and rain. I adjust the pH. I do not need to buy calcium fertilizer.
