Last fall I went to Dave Off (Waldor Orchids) annual backyard sale. My intention was to buy only 1 or 2 plants, but I ended up writing a significant number on my check.

This is one of the plants, a mother division of Golden Tang 'Linwood', which received a 78 pt HCC/AOS in 1995, and was upgraded to an 84 pt AM/AOS in 2016.

It is an interesting hybrid (registered in 1989 by H&R). It is:
25% Cattleya forbesii
25% Brassavola nodosa
25% Cattleya (laelia) milleri
25% complex Cattleya hybrid, stretching back to early UK breeding.

Great blooms! I have one from Marble Branch Farms and I love it. Easy to grow and flowers 2-3 times a year.

Yes, many Brassavola nodosa hybrids do. My B. nodosa (possibly a nodosa x grandiflora?) blooms about 3 times a year.

It is about to bloom again. This time it is duplicating a feature I have previously seen in Bc. Edna 'Summit' (nodosa x coccinea), in that it is producing a branched inflorescence.

A beautiful flower. I suspect that the multiple blooming comes both from the B. nodosa and C. forbesii. (C. forbesii isn't all that special to look at, but it blooms for me at least 3 times a year... and also cold-tolerant, generally bulletproof. Definitely worth the space)
