Wow, these are so colorful!! I thought from your first pics they were a lovely pink, but in the sunlight they look like a sunset! (not intending to be oxymoronic). Beautiful form too!!

That flower is fantastic!!!!! Definitely love those colours and patterns and shapes in those ones. The purply flower bud is like one of those long grapes! Excellent showing here.

Thanks, all!

These are my favorite , or close second, genus and they are truly something other worldly. Glad you like ‘em!

Excellent flowers. The shape and combination of colors are very pleasing. You indicated that the blooms don't last long, yes? What is the lifespan of the flowers? Are they fragrant?

i do not detect a scent but one spike is like 3' above my head lol

i would say each flower lasts about a 2 weeks? it has been sh1t awful weather lately so i suspect it is shortening the lifespan as last year i feel like they lasted like a month but i was not writing it down

That's not too bad of a lifespan, especially if they bloom sequentially. It's pretty fascinating that the spikes are tremendously long. And I do like the "ant loving" name of the genus also. Overall, this is a pretty cool species. Just can't keep those year-round hot temps that I bet it wants.

speaking to the sequential blooming...it is 20 days later and the lower spike has produced 19 flowers....the top one maybe 30-35
