Default Promising 1st bloom

This is a first bloom seedling, with the first flower not quite fully open, but it looks promising.

Default Lc. Lisye Sentiasa x C. Durban Rose

Since I have a lot of young plants with sheaths, I will continue this thread with more 1st time bloomers.

This one is from SVO, currently in a 4" clay pot. Plant habit shows heavy influence from Sophr. coccinea (small growths, growing all over itself, pseudobulbs rarely upright). It is only setting 1 flower per stem in this first blooming, but it is blooming on 3 growths (and has 6-8 new growths now). Flower is close to 3" NS.

Default Rlc. Hawaiian Prominence x Rlc. Dream Circle

This is another as yet unnamed SVO hybrid purchased last fall. Bought 6 of them, and this is the first to bloom. Great color, but only so-so-shape; slightly larger flower than the preceeding one.

Very compact, growing in 4" clay pot. Quite vigorous (I have divided this plant already).

Yes, that pattern makes for a 'different' Cattleya. Looks like it is a good grower too (3 new leads, from that first bloom seedling).

Sure is Kim! I like this one a lot! The petals and shape are awesome.

I also have the reciprocal cross. The first couple to bloom were nice and dark, but small and poorish shape, so they were not worth photographing. The largest plant just bloomed, with a far superior flower (about 4" NS). The petals are almost solid color same as the lip.

Here is another 1st timer bloomer. Not large (2-2.1/2" NS), but cute.

Ooh, beautiful markings! I like the way the darker color emphasizes the shape of the sepals.
