Like I said above, I knew I couldn't resist. We're all at home self-quarantining, and I feel like I needed a little treat, so just as I predicted, the plant is ordered, and I'm thrilled. And for those of you who were paying attention to my posts yesterday, you also know that I have a Cattleya tenebrosa on the way from Marlow's hahahahaha. Okay, I have to stop now. That's all I can buy this summer. That's the last one. I swear.

Cattleya Siam Jade is probably my favorite cattleya in terms of both fragrance and the look of the flowers.
In short, it’s likely my favorite cattleya. Overall, it’s one of my top 5 favorite orchids out of my collection of 200.

That Siam Jade is a little/miniature one, right? Or at least compact?

I don’t think it would be classified as a mini. The plant doesn’t get too tall (~10”), however, it does tend to spread out quickly and will easily fill an 8 inch pot within a few growing seasons. I would say that its size is about equal to other bifoliate species like the loddigesii or the guttata.
Siam Jade is in fact listed as compact in many shops because it blooms at a smallish size and it gets nowhere near the size of a standard cattleya, however, that being said, I would maybe say it is compact-esque based on the one I have. Either way, it’s definitely worth having at any size.

I was just wondering as far as space goes. I have limited space. But when i placed my order with Marlow, i accidentally clicked pay by phone rather than pay online with a credit card. I called today to complete the purchase, but nobody answered and i left a message, but never got a call back yet. The upside of this is that when they do call to take my credit card information, i could have them add Siam Jade to my order very easily hahahahahahah. I don't need any more, but i'm probably gonna do it. Thanks for making me aware of this plant that i now know I need when I didn't know it existed a couple hours ago! You really do care about me. I can tell.

I am sure you will love it. The flowers have a lot of substance and are quite waxy and long-lasting. In addition to having very vivid green flowers (a bit unusual for a cattleya), the fragrance is amazing and very potent.
It is a citrusy sweet and spicy floral fragrance rather than a rosy one. The best way to describe it is like a well-made lemon meringue pie with some lilac in it. It somehow manages to smell citrusy without being sour or astringent at all but also not cloying.

Now I'm as excited about this one as I am about the tenebrosa I ordered after a thorough search of available plants.

A couple of comments:
C. walkeriana 'Kenny' was awarded as a walkeriana, but the concensus is now that it is actually a hybrid (C. Snowblind 'Kenny' FCC/AOS).
Another very fragrant Cattleya is Rlc. San Damiano 'Halona' AM/AOS. This is a standard Cattleya (but not huge) with red flowers. I have a few of these available.
If anyone is looking for older Cattleya hybrids, I suggest contacting Waldor Orchids. Dave Off has a large personal collection, in addition to what the nursery has. Very few of these plants are on their web site, so you should either email them with list of plants you are looking for, or call and ask for Dave.

Thank you so much! I was thinking there had to be a grower who specialized in keep classic hybrids going. I will reach out.
Now that you put that nugget in my head about Rlc. San Damiano 'Halona' AM/AOS I wouldn't be surprised if you saw an order from me
