Actually, in the greenhouse, the spotted Cattleyas do grow year round, but winter growths tend to be significantly smaller than the spring/summer growths.

This includes C. Caudebec 'Linwood' (4N), and a new hybrid (harrisoniana x Caudebec), which grew NBS last year, set a somewhat smaller growth over the fall/winter, and then two new growths, both twice the size of the winter growth (and both with sheaths).

Pretty cool to find out I have been talking to you on flickr. How are your baby dowianas doing?
According to some Brazilians i talked in Redland. Amestiglossas are the tallest cattleyas of all, but take years with no re-potting for they to reach that size.

Yes, the amethystoglossas get massive! I've seen Roy's (the "R" of H&R Nurseries) award winning plants when I lived in Honolulu. They're enormous!! I suspect mine will be that tall soon too.
