I brought one to flower once. It was pretty tall, but not as tall as yours! I once saw a monster plant at the Tokyo Dome show in Japan. It was at least four feet tall. I am tempted to try again with a yellow or coerulea form, but I just don’t have that much space. Good growing!

Yep, they're definitely space hogs!! The diploid varieties are MUCH smaller though!

My AM awarded (4N, only 26-28" tall) bit the dust in the freeze. I recently checked with the grower who bought a division, he suffered a fire in his greenhouse, so that plant unfortunately is no more.

However, i have 2 or 3 seedlings from Exotic Orchids of Maui, where the largest one is beginning to grow larger (= about 4" tall now).

So, when I saw that Fred Clarke (Sunset Valley Orchids) had a new selfing of his 4N 'SVO' clone, I bought a couple more (in 3" pots). They arrived today, and they are nearly 5" tall).

Perhaps I should open a contest on when the first one will bloom. My personal guess/hope, is to see a flower in about 4 years.

Sounds about right! Might be able to do it in less time if you can keep em growing all winter.
