This beautiful cattleya is giving me only 2 flowers every year, will it be because the plant is small?

Beautiful pair of pink flowers. Excellent shape and colours. Maybe 2 per stem is typical for this kind of orchid. It might even eventually produce 3 per stem in future growing seasons maybe.

My concern is the growth of only one pod per year, most of mine grow more than one pod in the second year. It can also be the intense heat of the past year that stressed them a lot.

Flowering, and producing nice sizeable flowers like that can definitely take a lot out of an orchid. I think that as long as the orchid's leaves and bulbs look healthy, and the growing conditions are good, then that should be ok.

Your orchid managed to produce two big flowers that look great. If it had been less energetic, it could easily have done something else - such as abort one bud and produce a single flower instead. In your case - a great result!

Some have had a very large flower but with another pod with more flowers. This is the Mitsuo Akatsuka, it has been open for 3 weeks and measures more than 6 inches but it also has another pod with 3 flowers.

That's beautiful! This orchid is probably going to have a really nice rest after this flowering season!!
