Rlc. Nakornchaisri Red
I just got back home from a short trip and had this recently purchased orchid with buds still in sheath when I left for the trip. Already opening flowers 10 days later.
Very nice colours seen here and quite attractive.
I assume the pronouciation is like nak-korn-chai-shreee.
Maybe 'chai' as pronounced like chai tea. The look of the name suggests that this orchid Rlc. Nakornchaisri Red was produced in Thailand.
The grex name is {Nakornchaisri Red}.

for some reason the cattleya species/hybrids with those golden radial lines on a deep magenta/pink lip are just so attractive!

DC ----- I just had a sniff a moment ago to see if it has any fragrance. It turns out that it has some fragrance. A bit breezy in the growing area, and I was still able to smell the nice scent when smelling the flower up close. The fragrance is on the pleasant side, which is nice. Definitely not unpleasant.
I have another another red flowered catt C. Jewel Red 'Shinzu' that has scent, which has strong scent, but hints of iodine smell, or something - not sure hahaha. Not totally off-putting, but not something I want to continue smelling all the time hahaha.
No issue with the Rlc. Nakornchaisri Red though. The scent is good with this one.

Neophyte. I believe you hit the jackpot on the colour description - about watermelon colours! I had in my mind it reminded me of 'something'. I didn't think of watermelon. So when you mentioned it ----- jackpot.
Totally agree with you about the colour and pattern mix.
The flowers have opened up much more today. Maybe fully open now. So I captured a couple more photos today. It's fantastic to just share the images like this.

Pretty much flawless!!
And that is just how I like a flower to smell. Very pleasant if you get close but easy enough to avoid all together if you so desire.

Diane ... I received this one from someone I know. The cross was registered by somebody from Thailand I think. Registered in 2014. I haven't seen any cultivar names yet. We might see some cultivar names linked to the cross eventually!
